Postcards

The main objective of this project was to create 4 postcards using the pen tool in adobe photoshop. The postcards also had to have a continuing theme throughout that connected to a certain time in my life.

The time in my life that chose were all stress relieving moments. I also decided to use 1950's advertisements with some small adjustments in order to represent these moments. These moments were specifically; drinking coffee, showering/bathing, drawing, and napping.

Typographical 'Font' Poster

Summer 2019

Baskerville.jpg

This was my first experience using typography in a project where the font was the main requirement. We were given a list of different fonts to choose from and the goal was to 1). Pick a font and 2). Create a visually interesting poster that includes all of the variations of the font with some historical information while also using adobe Indesign.

The way I chose to conquer this problem was to relate the font I chose to something that interests me. I remember looking at the word 'Baskerville' and recalling the Sherlock Holmes story The Hound of Baskerville. My interest in Sherlock Holmes was what sparked the original concept for this poster. I began my research with looking up the original book cover to The Hound of Baskerville. I ended up working directly from the book cover and typed all of the characters in the for of this 'hound'.

I was very happy with how this poster turned out especially with the limited color palette that I decided to go with. I felt the background was just as important as the arrangement of the letters.

Chimera Photoshop Project

Chimera Final Image.jpg

This piece and the piece below, "Attack of the Clones", are both works that I felt were more practice. Both of these projects were centralized around understanding the basic functions of photoshop and working with multiple photographs.

Out of the two of these I felt that developing a narrative within my clones was the most interesting. This is a project that I feel could be developed and rewritten to be a high school project with its simplicity. There was also room for creative freedom to really do anything. I chose to photograph an area that is really well known to me. The main idea for this was to create my own 'pit crew' as I dreamed I had when my cousins and I would race around the yard on four-wheelers when we were young. While my pit crew may not seem to be the most helpful I do believe this was the most successful!
