Contextualism Vs. Formalism - 02/06/20

I would like to think that right now in my art education journey I am a happy medium of contextualism and formalism. I may be leaning slightly more towards the formalist ideals of originality but I believe that the communication that occurs through art is also vital! I find that many times teaching about communication of certain ideas in drawing can also aide in the development of originality. I will be interested to see where my thought process of these types of education develops into in the future.
