Commitment to learning, Respect for oneself and others, and Commitment to excellence
When I first began my art education journey at the University of Wisconsin Stout, I signed a statement of values and dispositions. This statement outlines the important aspects that every preservice teacher must have. The commitment to learning value is one of the main reasons I continue to pursue education. Having a passion for the education of myself and others is what drives the entire education system. I strive to better myself past what is required for my degree through other professional development opportunities. Some of these opportunities include the state and national art education conferences, volunteering at Visual Arts Classic, and continuing my learning using any and all online resources available to me! Respect for oneself and others includes being punctual, kind, and optimistic. Practicing mindfulness and self care are some of the ways that the University of Wisconsin Stout has been preparing me as an educator. Lastly, is the commitment to excellence. While perfection is often unobtainable, it is important that as an educator you are working to be the best role model possible for your students. I personally strive to make

sure that whenever I am speaking with students I am using a caring and positive tone only. I think this sets the standard for how every student will be treated and in turn how I expect to be treated. By respecting my students it is more likely they will find that they also respect me as an individual. I continue to work towards these dispositions and values as I feel they are extremely important.
