Jodi Youngman

We began this observation virtually through a TEAMS meeting and were then asked to categorize some of the experience that we noticed into the Charolette Danielson's Framework for Teaching. Below are some of my key observations.

Domain One:

Designing Coherent Instruction- Jodi used a document camera to better present the content and be able to also broadcast and demonstrate to the virtual community. Setting Instructional Outcomes- Jodi set direct intentions for what students need to get done in the time and repeats the steps for them. -Start by finishing the black paint and then use the black to fill in small shapes. -Use the colors to fill in the rest of the shapes.

-Clean your brushes in between colors so they do not get all messy.

Domain Two:

Organizing Physical Space-

Jodi has organized her classroom with plenty of space in between tables for both students and she to walk through. This can also be seen by the intentional seating chart and only allowing two students to sit together.

Establishing a Culture for Learning-

Jodi has obviously established her classroom with well-known expectations. The students all walk in and are fully engaged during the art making time.

Domain Three:

Communicating with Students-

Jodi is very clear when giving instructions. She gets the students attention and states exactly what she expects her students to do and then lets them get to work.

Using Questioning and Discussion Techniques-

Jodi used some questions straight out of the Anticipatory Set of a lesson plan at the beginning of the lesson. “Who can tell me the primary colors?” I thought this was a great review for the students and helped Segway into the needed information to do the project.
