Guest Speaker: Nicole Seidler

I have had a lot of concerns about the first year of teaching and it was really nice to be able to talk with a first year teacher to ask the burning questions about education. Some of the topics discussed by Nicole was Budget, Inter community Communications, Moving Art Teacher, Prep Time, and Student Teaching Tips. As an UW Stout graduate it was really nice to hear about how smooth of a transition it can be from student teaching into the career field! I think after speaking with Nicole I have realized how important taking time for yourself and using mindfulness as an educator can be a crucial experience. One thing that I felt was interesting about our conversation was the she felt about the connections made with other

educators and her mentor teacher. I was very happy to hear that the other educators that work with Nicole think of her as a quality addition to the district. I would also be interested to talk to her within a couple more weeks to see how it has changed for the better or worse. I think after speaking with Nicole I would like to develop a greater collection of lesson plans and samples for the secondary level; especially considering the amount of samples I have in the elementary level. Nicole spoke about how a lot of her time now is spent making samples and lesson planning because she is developing her own curriculum for the very first time. It was awesome to catch up with her!
